Why did Ramananda Raya faint when Sri Caitanya Mahaprabhu revealed to him His identity as Radha-Krsna? He is Visaka-sakhi in Vraja-lila, so he knows these things. So, why did he faint? What is the wonder? The answer is full of rasa. Krsna was feeling acute pangs of separation, and His viraha bhava heightened to produce a form known as Mahabhava Prakasa, intense feelings of separation from His dear devotees. That form with dilated eyes and shrunken limbs due to ecstasy is Lord Jagannatha.

SARANAGATI is an audio of devotional poems about the process of surrendering one's heart at the feet of Lord Krishna. It shows how to serve the Lord, obtain His protection, depend on Him, develop loyalty to Him and act humbly before Him. Through this, one loses all anxiety and fear and gains infinite peace and joy.

GITAVALI is a compilation of devotional poems on two cassettes that are expressions of the highest flights of Bhakti-yoga. They soar with ecstatic love for Lord Krishna and His companions and help increase the listener's faith, appreciation and devotion. One then wants to hear and chant about God constantly.

THE AUTHOR: Srila Bhaktivinoda Thakura, in 19th century India, revived the teachings of Sri Krishna Caitanya and disseminated them worldwide. He is the author of a hundred books on devotion to Lord Krishna. He wrote Saranagati and Gitavali in Bengali in 1893, and they were translated and published by ISKCON Press in 1972.

THE NARRATOR: Amala-bhakta Dasa is a direct disciple of His Divine Grace A. C. Even though he had written all the Puranas, Mahabharata, and even Vedanta-sutra, Srila Vyasadeva still felt despondent in his spiritual life. He therefore inquired from his spiritual master Narada Muni, "Like the sun, Your Goodness can travel everywhere in the three worlds, and like the air you can penetrate the internal region of everyone. As such, you are as good as the all-pervading Supersoul. Please, therefore, find out the deficiency in me, despite my being absorbed in transcendence under disciplinary regulations and vows." At the conclusion of the Battle of Kuruksetra, the great mahajana General Bhismadeva was lying on a bed of arrows when all important personalities in the universe, including Lord Krsna Himself, assembled to pay their respects to this great sadhu.

In this chapter Grandfather Bhisma instructs the new emperor Maharaja Yudhisthira on social duties, but more importantly he offers his final prayers to the Supreme Lord who was standing next to him awaiting his departure. There are no descriptions in any other sastra with such sweet explanations of the chivalrous rasa.

Although saved by the Lord Himself within the womb of his mother, the great emporer Maharaja Pariksit was cursed to die in seven days by the son of a brahmana.
